Hi all, quick question from this telecaster noob. I only have the guitar a few weeks now and am exploring it a bit more as time progresses. Now when I play it when not amplified there is a buzz on the G string and a buzz on the middle of the low E. It's not really coming out through the amp but it's bugging me as it's causing a bit of a dead spot when I bend the G, now the question I have is if it's normal for a 52 reissue Tele, keeping the three piece bridge in mind, to have a bit of a buzz when it's not amped up, or a better question, is it possible to have a good setup done on this guitar which should remove the buzz. I understand that it's a broad question as there might be something "wrong" with the guitar, but I am hoping that a normal setup would get rid of any buzzing, am I correct in this assumption?

I don't want to bring it to a tech to waste my money and still have fret buzz if it's normal to have a little, but I can't believe it is on such a guitar.

thanks in advance for any help.

if you're not comfortable doing it yourself, a professional set-up can solve a myriad of problems, including fretbuzz

If it's not noticable when playing amplified I wouldn't worry too much however the best thing to do is to try a string change first to see if that me be the cause. If the problem persists maybe a tech would be your best bet and I can't see the fix for a buzzing problem costing that much as it may be something as simple as a resonant vibration. That is that certain frequencies cause something in or on the guitar to vibrate.

Is there relief in the neck?
How high is the bridge/action?

Neck may need a shim.
Fenders do this. As long as the neck is not twisted, you can fix it.

Sounds like it needs a truss rod tweak.

If there is no buzz when through an amplifier, there is no string buzz.

I have 11 guitars and only my Ovation acoustic and Guild semi-hollow don't buzz acoustically. I do my setups with an amp through headphones by first getting correct relief, then bringing the saddles down so the strings go dead during a bend, and then backing up the saddles so the deadness is gone during bends. I'll check all strings for no buzz on all frets. (I left out intonation and clean/lube of contact points)

This is good with just about every kind of 6 string solid body electric available.

I guess it is a matter of taste.
All my fenders HAD acoustic buzz when I bought them at the store, but a shim on the jag and a proper setup on the two teles was all I needed to eliminate all buzz.
Yeah, I am anal that way. :D
And I like very low action.

Well thing is, there is a buzz, amped or not, and I'm conditioned not to like buzz....is that a problem? I'm reading around the net and there are some people on this thread saying the same, that if it's only acoustic then it doesn't exist......hmmmm. I think I'll go with a proper pro setup, I have a good Luthier on hand who can do it for me.
Thanks all.
