My Deluxe MIM nashville tele has a paint chip on the bottom left side of the body where it was dropped, its not big, i'd say about 5cm high and 3cm across. I want to get it painted, but perhaps just the damaged section to save money on a full respray. Does anyone have any suggestions of what to do? even if the paint doesn't match I was thinking maybe paint it like a one off with the bottom half of the body a different colour, any ideas guys?

If a chip is missing with a dent in it, you'd have to fill and sand before painting or it will show worse than the chip. Personally I would leave well enough alone, it's just paying its dues.

Fair point, its just so frustrating having a lovely guitar with a stupid chip in the corner lol. But since I am going to change out the pickups and possibly even the neck, i will probably take the whole body apart and do it properly, anyone have any suggestions for what colour?

I use nail polish for small dings that I don't want.

In one case I used a furniture pen to color the wood the proper shade and then found a walnut nail polish - unless you know where to look, you'd never see it.
On my baja the previous owner had been digging in the neck cavity and chipped the poly and paint near the pickup. I just covered that with some clear nail polish.

Just checked out that ReRanch site, looks very good and if im going to paint it i will probably use them for supplies. But i have seen some nice thinline tele bodies for sale and i think i might build a guitar from one of those :)
