I loved the shape and feel of my Beck Tribute Esquire, so I wanted to incorporate both into a new completely different build.

The body and Neck are from USA Custom Guitars. The body is two piece swamp ash with a tummy and forearm contour. Tommy hand selected my neck and then spec'd it out to match my 2010 American Deluxe Ash Telecaster's neck. A fat C with a compound radius using Flame maple.

The body and neck were then sent to MJT Aged Finishes. Before Mark Jenny could work his magic, Matt and I went through tons of colors before I found the one that really spoke to me. I call it Daphne, but it isn't a Daphne that Fender ever made. MJT also supplied the pick guards (I had them do two so I could keep my options open, one for a HB and one for an Esquire).

I called my friends at Lollar Pickups for recommendations. Having the J-street in my Beck, I knew I wanted that again in the bridge. For a neck HB, we went with a Lollar Low Wind Imperial.

The hardware is all Callaham.

Here she is, Daphne:

I think she looks great. She sounds amazing. I love the Low Wind. I was absolutely surprised by the amount of sustain she has. It was a fun build for sure.

The guitar feels very comfy to play with her contoured Strat-style belly cut!

Did you used a 3-way switch or a super 5-way megapole to split the neck HB?

Hey Chromeface,

I went with a standard 3 way, did not want to split the neck (I didn't even look into checking if the low wind could be split). It sounds pretty massive in the neck position. It is a great pickup and I can't recommend it enough for that 335 PAF sound.

Thanks Lee. It's a great guitar. Now I can't think of what I will do next. I guess I will just have to keep practicing until something pops into my little brain.

Thanks Impulse7,

The body was greatly influenced by my Beck Tribute Esquire. It is a very comfortable guitar to play.
