ok i'm more of a strat guy but it sounds like a good deal so i'm thinking of getting a new tone... anyone ever heard of a purple squier telecaster (i'm thinking either affinity or standard) with maple fretboard? found one online... not sure if it's worth it but for 190€ it's mine... is it worth getting over a squier classic vibe 50's strat?

I'm gonna agree with weaselax..........but in a subtler tone...............

HAve you got your modded strat done yet?

Don't make the same mistake a lot of us did when we were younger and just try and get as many as possible as quick as possible..............you end up a few years down the line with a handful of guitars that, had you saved up for a bit longer, could have gotten you a MIM or an older/better squier.....................once you have a few of these and mod them, they won't sell combined for the price of a decent MIM or 2nd hand MIA.

I would fart about for a bit with what you have and save the pennies, especially as you are off to college too, and wait for a 'good un' to come around.

OMG I am turning into my parents!!!!!!! No parental patronising meant there Ralf, honestly...................oh dear

ok first, no need to get worked up on sub brands a squier is not less of a fender and just cause it has less quality doesn't make it a bad guitar (it is under fenders name after all) i mean jeez i'd like to see what people would think if i went for a knockoff... second i'm a college student low on cash and looking for something to play and mod around college and i'm going for something that'll last long (have a vm strat that has crossed the atlantic and has never failed me till now and it's my main guitar over my black mim)

no probs wookie  i'm just trying to decide between this and the guitar i was going to mod originally cause this is cheaper just wanna know if it's worth it... plus i think it's an old model but i guess you're right this could just be another GAS attack... been happening a lot lately...

In that case, Ralf I think I would go for tha STrat style. I think you mentioned you had pickups for it already didn't you? ANd I think I remember you had HB for the bridge position..........(if that is crap then apologies)
If it as an HB you have for the brdge then routing the tele for that would be a $@!&* and then you would pobably need to get a decent tele bridge for a bucker, I know you don't have to use a tele bridge but that leads cutting and shaping pickguards etc etc..........too much work for me on a guitar at $190 just to mod...................(lazy tech mode this evening   )

Get a cheapo STrat copy I say............

I've seen the purple Squier teles but to tell the truth, I play so many guitars, I can't say for sure that I have or have not played one.

I will say, having played tons of squier teles and having owned a couple squier strats.....the teles are far better, in my humble opinion than the strats. I'd put a squier tele on even ground with a mim strat (I have a few mim strats as well).

In like manner, I'd put my mim tele on a level just above a highway one strat.

And to give you a level set on where I am.....I really like strats more than teles.

I have a CV 50 and it does have the huge routing, a HB could fit without rework.
Never saw a purple one, but that means little to me.
Pull the pickguard and look in the cavity?
