I play mostly (99.9%) of the time fingerstyle - thumbpick and fingers. Guess you'd say "Chet stuff" but I a long way from that caliber of player :D a long way.

Anyhow I have a MIM telecaster and would like to find some pickups that are a less bright especially the bridge. I don't really want to go to humbuckers so I am looking for single coils sollutions.

I do pretty well on the standard neck pup by rolling the tone down. I like a little zing from the bridge but not tex mex pup stuff seems a little bright and thin.

Any recommendations? Or what to look for in a pup - like higher or lower output, overwind, vintage, etc. I confused by all the options.

I was kind of thinking maybe Texas Specials would give me that fatter, warmer tone I'm wanting, but I'm not sure. I'm kind of new to tele and electics so I need an education.

Thanks
Tony

Tony,

Actually, there are so many pickups out there which would suit your requirements yet the Texas Specials are a good starting point. As you'll be taking the plunge sooner or later, one way or the other, you might as well give them a shot as they aren't expensive by comparison and are well made.
