Last week my old DigiTech digital delay crapped out and I had to find a new one. Even though it’s old and I’m sure that there is better out there, I really loved using it.

So armed with my beloved Andy Summers inspired Tele I test drove about three delays. In the end I found and fell in love with the Line 6, "Echo Park."

For the rest of the afternoon I was sucked into playing with my new toy. There is so much you can do with this thing. When used with my Small Stone phase shifter and/or my Ibanez Stereo Chorus it's perfect for getting “The Police” era Andy Summers sounds. Using some overdrive and chorus I was able to perform David Gilmour style leads.
The settings are user friendly and very versatile. There are two settings that I found very interesting, but I’m still learning how to use effectively. Using the “Swell” allowed me to play very “synth” like chords and “Reverse” let me play some bizarre ‘60s sounding leads (think Jimi Hendrix).

“Tap” tempo is very useful as well as the “Trails” switch. Tap tempo allows you to set the delay in time with the music you are playing on the fly. “Trails” allows you to switch off the pedal in mid-song without that horrible sudden break in the delay. The delay fades out instead of just shutting off suddenly.

Tip of my hat to Line 6.

Let me know what your thoughts on delay pedals and the Echo Park.

I am also a fan of the Line 6 stuff, been using a POD XT for awhile and it is great, just about any effect or amp model that I will ever need and infinitely adjustable. Congrats on the cool find. :)

What is the FBV expess? What does it do? I'm not familiar with most effects pedals. Once I get something I like I don't look around for other stuff.

For over 20 years I used a Boss DS1 distortion pedal. I'm still convinced that there not better out there for ditortion. When I lost my DS1 I ended up buying the Zack Wylde overdrive pedal.

I loved my Dan Electto "Cool Cat" Chorus pedal, but after ten years it finally died and I bought an Ibanez Chorus pedal.

I messed with the Line 6 Pod, but I'm not sold on it. It's a great tool and wonderful for fans of it, but I like real knobs and switches.
