Hey Guys, im brand new to this site. I just signed up about 15 mins ago ahaha.

Let me tell u a little about my self and my self and my gear. I have 5 guitars at the moment. A Gibson Les Paul Classic Antique in Honey Burst, A Fender American Deluxe Strat in Olympic White, A BC Rich mockingbird Platnium Series with Duncan designed pickups (Im loooking to sell this guitar if anyones interested) in black, a 1989 Squier Strat in black, and a Cort Acoustic. I have a Dunlop Crybaby Wah and a MI Audio Tube Zone Overdrive.

Im in the market for a nice telecaster. But i can find anything that takes my fancy. Theres nothing major i want out of it, but it does have to have a neck the same or similer to the American Deluxe, and it has to have the classic tele sound. AND NO HUMBUCKERS!!! Ahaha. Id also prefer a maple fingerboard. Im also thinking about thinline teles as well but cant find anything i like ahaha. Im not open to a signerture one either lol

It will be used for mainly blues (Eric Clapton, The Band, BB King, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, etc, etc) as well as maybe some rock every now and then (Guns n Roses, Metallica)

As this will be last guitar perchase for a while, its need to last. It will be gigged, and it will be thrashed ahahaha. I have a budget of about $2000 AUS. Thanks in advance guys

Hey mate,
I have had a mexican standard tele for about 12 yrs now and love it.
I bought mine for about $1K back in '99 but I believe they now go for about $750 AUS (see below - i'm not sure what state you are in?).
You could almost get 3 for your budget-lol.

If I had $2k to spend I would look at something like an American standard or one of these babies:

^This American special tele looks SWEEEEEET!!!

Best of luck with your search :)

Welcome to the club, if you go to the top of this page and click on the Products tab you can find all the specs you're asking for and more.

Cheers,

Welcome to the boards Stevo. Some good suggestions so far, but my suggestion would be a Deluxe line mexican Tele. Great quality, and much lower price. I have a Deluxe Blackout Tele, and it does well within all styles of music I play (everything from country to rock), and with a good pedal can easily achieve nice heavy tones for stuff like Metallica etc...They don't make them anymore, but I'm sure you could find one online somewhere.

Another similar option would be a Deluxe Nashville Tele; my opinion is that the three-pickup Teles are hard to beat.

Good Luck in your search.

The deluxe line (such as the pic I posted) is the top of the line of the Mexican built guitars. The American built guitars have minor differences, such as hand-rolled fretboard edges and such. The 3-pickup setup is just to allow the player the option of more pickup combos than you'd find on a 2-pickup guitar. I love my guitar because it still has all the classic Tele tones, and just a little more versatile thanks to 5 pickup combos as opposed to 3.
When looking at Teles, you undoubtedly will see that there are a multitude of options, and the best bet would be to go to the store and play as many as possible within your price range. Then pick the one that stands out to you. Good luck in your search. I'm confident that whichever you end up choosing, if it's a Tele you can't go wrong.
