I bought a new Thin Skin '52 Tele Reissue last week. Fantastic guitar. The workmanship is absolutely flawless, plays very well and sounds great. I really like the feel of the fingerboard... unlike some of the regular USA '52 Reissues I played, the fingerboard and neck aren't sticky. I was pretty close to pulling the trigger on an ash body 2008 American Standard (very impressive guitar also) but there was just something special about the sound, feel, and look of the '52 Thin Skin for me. Any other Thin Skin owners out there please chime in with your comments about your own guitars. Hope to be posting some pictures soon.

I waited and got this '62RI Custom Thin Skin. There certainly is a difference in the the feel of the Thin Skin compared to the AV'62RI, but they are still both great Teles...

I gotta admit, the '62 Custom is my favorite Tele and you got some serious collection going on there bro'. When I was guitar shopping, the '52 I ended up buying was coinsidentally literally delivered off the UPS truck to the store along with three Guild acoustics. I actually waited around for the guitar to warm up to room temp in the case along with the store owner (yes there are still a few independent shops left :) and the tech. The three of us stood there like nervous expectant fathers as the case was opened revealing that vintage accurate butterscotch finish (Thin Skin '52's don't have that orange/amber aging toner on the body as it should do it on its' own over time). I actually inquired as to the availabilty of a Thin Skin '62 Custom and the dealer actually contacted the Fender rep (I witnessed the phone call) and was told that the '52 he had taken delivery on that very day, was the last Thin Skin Tele of any vintage available from the factory.
Of course I could have ordered a '62 online from another dealer, but I really liked the '52 and got a great deal on it (not much more than a regular '52 reisssue). I guess that '52 was just meant for me. Now if I could just do something about the 60 cycle hum in my old house :x
