I agree with stratele that you cannot make good adjustments in a short time. I usually adjust the truss rod about one eighth of a turn with the strings that I'm going to be using and then check it in a couple of days to see if it's right.

Mark where the rod is before you turn it, so you can return it to zero if the need arises.
Fenders use shims like gibbys use TOM bridges. It's just a fact of fender life.
If you can't get the action low enough to please you without buzz...shim time!

Most adjustments are not that hard. But do what you are comfortable with.

Oh, and a tech is not a luthier. :D

Thanks for the input. The guy who does my setups actually builds too so I guess you could call him a "luthiech." I got the guitar back and there is still a little bit of acoustic buzz (not concerned) but the action is still too high. A micro-tilt adjustment is in order. They ordered new N3 pickups for it (stock were faulty) so I'm just going to wait to make the adjustment until the pickups are in!

Hey Lee,

That's a bummer on the pickups. Remember my neck pickup was DOA. I hope they don't have any long term problems. Are you going to take it back to your luthier to adjust the micro tilt ore are you going to give that a shot on your own?

Don

I'll more than likely do some heavy research and do it myself. Somehow only one pickup was sent to my repairman this week so I'm waiting another 10 days to get the other one. If this fixes the buzzing I will be the happiest person in the world. If not, I will be completely lost in regards to a course of action. The first guitar that was sent had a dead bridge pickup and the same monstrous buzz in the neck pickup. Second guitar buzzing in both pickups. I've even noticed the same case popping up with other guitars on the forum. I have tested absolutely all of my gear, outlets, and even played at different houses to see if my guitar is not to blame.
