ok, so i figued i've had the blacktop telecaster for a good month now, and after some serious thinking i think i might mod the visual appearence of it. y'know, just to make it individual and "mine" if you know what i'm saying.
so there' only one thing i dont like about the visual appearence, and that is the volume and tone knobs. they get in the way cause there a bit to big, and i just generally dont like the look of them. i was thinking of replacing them with aliminum barrel knobs. they look better, and they're smaller than the fat amp ones i have. something like this; http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Telecaster-Barre ... 230f157fc9

an i made a thread about this about 2 months ago, an it caused alot of arguments. so if your goin' to be a keyboard "hero' and start a argument behind a screen then please dont post. i'm gonna put a small peace sticker on the pickguard. i'm putting it on the pickguard cause thats replacable, andif i get sick of it i can get another pickguard (which i betcha i wont get fed up with it  ).

Those knobs will look a lot better than the standard Blacktop knobs. Another thing I think would look nice on your guitar is a black pearloid pickguard. I think the upgraded knobs and a new pickguard and you'd have yourself an even nicer guitar. Just my thoughts. I thought my Tele looked rather plain when I first got it, so I put some vinyl pinstripes on it, made it my own, and I think it looks cool too. I say if anyone dislikes modifying guitars just for visual purposes, they should simply not do it to their guitar.

Hey Riley,
Its your guitar, so do whatever you want to it. I prefer the barrels myself too.
I put this on my Squier P Bass.

You can get a custom pickguard on Warmoth's site that will fit your guitar, you select what pickup it's cut for, and the material. It looks to me like the bridge pup sits right where the bridge normally is on a guitar with the full size bridge, so it should be a good fit. And I think they cost 28-34 USD. Not sure on shipping to Australia, but I imagine it won't be too much.

I put the black speed knobs ala-les paul on my tele. It adds to the all black scheme which I dubbed the EVIL-CASTER!

i was thinking of getting a worn white pickguard. that'd look pretty cool on a red body. i've had a bit of inspiration from one of my uncles many guitars, squier strat, he practically demolished it then re built it. it looks really awesome.
my dad's gotta friend (who i know pretty well) who paints abstract pictures pictures for a living, so i guess he could paint the stripes on. my uncle's on the look out for some barrel knobs, an i've gotta find a friggin' peace sticker! they seem to have vanished in my town
