ive been tossing around the idea of putting a set of p-90s in my tele which has the standard 2 single coils now and kinda wanna get a feel if anyone has done this, not sure if the bridge area has the room to keep the bridge p90 in the offset angle the single coil is now. just an idea i had that i thought would look cool and sound neat with a p90 sitting at an angle. on a different note i play a lot of pop punk and was wondering what pick ups i should use to utilize that awesome tele sound while still getting a good hot but snap punchy sound common in punk music

Hi livinlots,

A P90 will fit in the neck position but you will need to cut your pickguard, or just remove it which is what I did with mine.

The bridge position would be tricky and need rerouting to fit the pickup in straight, far less at an angle.

There is a post somewhere on the forum where someone got single coil size P90s from somewhere, will try and find it.

Your other option is to get an HB bridge and fit a Humbucker sized P90 into it. The one I have doesn't need to fit in the space for the bridge pickup but that doesn't give you your angled P90.

I think that would be wuite cool but would involve quite a bit of routing......

As long as you don't go too far with the angle it would be fine. Remember all the Strat single coils are the same size and the bridge one sits at an angle.

The soapbar may not sit as close to the bridge as a tele one though.

You would have to put on a non tele bridge and the soapbars are longer than single coils and humbuckers so it may sit quite far forward meaning you may have to play with the shape of the pickguard too.......possibly....?

For your punk sound, the P90s could work well. I've seen a few of these punk bands with single P90 set ups on Strats, Teles and the likes.
