That's right, 1992 to 2001.

Although A is 85-86, if it says Crafted in Japan on the neck it's a 97-98.

I have a MIJ JD also and it is an A+6 digit serial and it's a 94-95. The Japanese serial charts are so very messed up. The posted charts are quite known for being not only a bit off, but flat out wrong. lol The folks at Fender honestly can't explain it. I've been through it several times with them and they simply don't know. It's quite funny actually. I do have my A series axes that are from 85 also, but the JD simply wasn't made that early, I guess he just liked the A serial on the bridge, so he got it. Now he uses Peavey instead of Fender. The Peavey one is a really sweet axe, they did a very nice job on it. If you want another JD, let me know, you can have mine.

If serial number does not make sense, check for neck stamp, pots dates, etc... Those dont lie.
