Hey I am interested in reversing my vol-tone-switch plate is it just a matter of turning it around and repositioning the pots?

That would cover it I believe. Just take off the entire plate, rotate it 180degrees, put your volume/tone pots where you want them, and also rotate the switch. Should work fine.

Post an update when you get it done. I've been considering the same thing for my Tele.

No, it's usually not that easy.

First of all, many Teles have a raised area of wood sort of in the middle to which is commonly attached a ground wire to connect with cavity shielding paint. Second, you're talking about switching the pots around so volume is still closest, right? Okay, then you are talking about wiring alterations to make things work out. I wish it were as easy as it appears on the surface, but it almost never is. Still, it's a very common and relatively popular mod. I have it on one of mine -- greatly improves the ability to do volume swells and tone knob wah wah effects. Good luck.

Fender used to sell a Tele like that. I can't remember the model. I owned one. It had 3 pickups, a period pick guard, and the control plate was backwards. Personally I found it to be a pain the but.

sorry, it's going to be a bit, I am swamped with the last three weeks of spring semester. I think I have a week to ten days after finals, depending on when I take them. We'll get back to you on that. Also from taking apart other guitars, there is usually enough wire to make the switch. I am also putting in sperzel locking tuners on and changing the pick guard. I can't wait to see what is under the hood.

I did this with my TELE, and it's pretty cool. The problems I encountered were:

had to install "dime-size" pots due to routing clearance in reversed position
had to add wire from pups to switch (originally a bit short)

everything else is gravy.

good luck!

don't let my experience discourage you. My tele is a squier standard from Indonesia. all you need to do is remove 2 screws and have a looksy. I'm pretty sure MIA, MIM, MIJ have slightly different routing to accomidate.

good luck!

I would recommend getting a new plate, pots, cap, jack, and switch. This way you won't have to worry about overheating and damaging anything by unsoldering and resoldering everything. Plus you can undo it easier if you don't like it or decide to sell. You will need 22 guage wire in 2 to 3 colors if you plan on matching original wires. You will need to splice on extension to neck pu, jack, and vol pot if you just move them. I've seen a couple of neat plates for reverse controls.

I reversed one on mine, but didn't like it, so reverted back to standard.
