Hi,

I can buy a Fender telecaster Nashville deluxe for about 575€.
Build: 1998, 2 part body
serial#: mn8126777

Now, first question, is it a correct price?
And if I buy that guitar and want to sell it next year, will the value decrease?

Thanks!

The early USA Deluxes produced in 1998 came with such configuration, i.e. a Vintage Noiseless Strat pickup sandwiched between two Vintage Noiseless Tele units. They also featured a Strat-o-Tele 5-way switching system and a 2-way mini toggle allowing up to seven tonal combinations.

The following year the middle Strat pickup and the 7-way switching system were gone in favor of the traditional 2-pickup & 3-way switching arrangement.

Based on the serial number described in your post, the guitar you're talking about is a Mexican Deluxe Nashville. It features the same 3-pickup arrangement as the American Deluxe without the extra 2-way toggle and a trio of Tex Mex pickups in place of the VNs found on the higher-end American-made models.

It will appreciate...in about 20 years.
Next year? You will probably lose close to half.

Without considering what country you are from, and what new and used guitar market you are talking about, there is absolutely no basis for an opinion that the value of your guitar would drop by half over the next year.

A MIM Fender telecaster Nashville deluxe used guitar in good shape may be able to hold a value of 500€ ($700), depending on the comparative market values of similar new and used guitars in your country, particularly if the value of the Euro falls as compared to the Dollar over the next year, which seems quite likely at present. Some European countries are also likely to experience higher VAT taxes over the next year. These factors, if realized, would make new Fender guitars more expensive in Europe and would impact the used guitar market.

At any rate, absent a complete global economic collapse, it is quite likely that the world is headed into an inflationary period with a reduction in the relative national purchasing power of many world currencies for goods and services, assuming that there is a decent level of recovery to drive demand. If this were to occur in Europe, as well as in your country, this would also help to support the value of your guitar, relative to the purchasing power (amount of inflation) of the Euro in your country.

Of course, all considerations of your question, depend on the actual market demand in the new and used guitar market of your country, and actual comparative market values and pricing for similar new and used guitars in your country over the next year.

The first question to ask is whether your guitar is fairly priced at present, compared to similar used MIM Nashville Telecasters, and relative to the price of a new MIM Nashville Telecaster in your country?

If you believe that 500€ ($700) is presently a fair comparative price for this guitar in your country, then the considerations above may have some relevance to your consideration of whether this MIM Nashville Telecaster will hold it's value over the next year, assuming that its condition remains the same.

Thanks for the answers!
The thing is, there are not many nashville's for sale (2). And they are already online for sale since january.
Original price of the guitar was 1100€ (+/- 1500 us dollar)
When you look at the price of a new mim nashville telecaster, it's only 650€ (920 us dollar)

So i think there is a difference in quality?

I'd never pay $700 for MIM here in the states, are the MIM really that expensive in Europe?

It is doubtful that there is any meaningful difference in quality.
The claim that this guitar is a two piece body is also questionable, and even if true, makes little real world difference other than possible grain matching.
The pictures do not show any fret wear and the guitar has a bent tuning machine.
For the difference in price, I would probably get a new one.

That is the evil of the Value Added Tax (VAT) which taxes the sale of goods at all levels of the sales chain - the importer - distributor - retail - consumer.
That is why only personal income and business profits are the only things that should ever be taxed.
All other sales taxes distort markets. That is why Europe has $7.00 gasoline.
So the next time you hear some U.S. politician say something stupid like "we should tax consumption in the United States," you'll know that the "regressive" tax approach suggested would make your guitar cost more.

The prices in Europe or maybe in Belgium are just high compared to the us.

But the price has dropped almost half in 10-12 years and the qualtity stayed the same, isn't that strange?

I remember over 20 years ago when I lived in Europe. A MIM Strat was too pricey so I bought a MIJ Strat for much less. Interesting that MIJ are now regarded of better quality and thus more valuable...

Both of your observations are most likely exchange rate phenomenons.
The relatively strong Euro (until recently) probably reduced the cost of guitars in Belgium in recent years.
And the exchange rates between the Belgian franc and the Japanese Yen were probably more advantageous than between the Dollar, 20 years ago.
