Noiseless teles,

Duncan five-twos

twisted teles...

There are so many pickups and Do they all sound different?

I have a gibson classic and Humbuckers really didn't sound different from one another.

They were all thick sounding, full, a lot of sustain.

Usual stock tele pickups are single coils, Does it mean less sustain?

What do you recommend for tele pickups from YOUR experience?

Yes, some in a subtle way, others can be quite an extreme difference.

I currently like Bill Lawrence Keystones, but you should go for what YOU like.

Good luck!

Kinman Broadcasters sound noticeably different from any Tele pups I have ever heard. They are spooky quiet and very distinctive in every setting.

What pickups can make extreme difference?

Could you give me some examples?

Well, usually the easiest way to spot a big potential difference is if one of the pickups advertizes itself as being "Vintage or Vintage-Like" and the other one says it's "Hot". Vintage style pups usually tend to be on the lower end as far as output. Not always, but usually. Those aren't the only differences but it's one of the big tip-offs. Pay attention to what you are reading when you search for pups and try to note output levels. Not all manufacturers list those specs on thioer web sites but some do. You'll also want to do some research and learn about the different kinds of magnet materials used in pickups and also the difference between blade shape and pole shapes of magnets.

Google is your friend for finding good reading on these things. Only you know what you want and the question you pose is very broad so it's almost impossible to answer untill you do a little learning so you can describe what you want. If what you want is to sound like "X" artist then you have an uphill battle on your hands. You very likely won't be able to reproduce a given artists entire rig and settings and even if you do manage you still won't have their hands.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Hey BMW, thanks for the reply.

I guess output and the material used in pickups are the difference between all pickups?

A lot of stuff to research.

Thank you very much
