I am looking to get my first Tele in a few weeks and I have a question. I would like a neck profile similar to the 52 RI. I would love a 52 RI but that is not in the budget right now. I have been thinking about the Baja but I can't find one in my area to try. Last weekend I was out of town and played a 50's Esquire at a store I was passing by, and loved the feel of the neck. I didn't get to hear the single pickup setup as there were too many wannabe metal gods keeping me from hearing myself think. My question is if I can't find an Esquire to hear does the 50's classic have the same neck profile (I know what that pickup setup sounds like) and/or is the Baja neck as thick. Any feedback would be great Thanks.

I suppose you could ask your local shop to bring one in or you could order one online.

I've done it once and I was happy with the guitar but I only ordered it because the store promised me I wouldn't have to buy it if I didn't like it. Ordering electronics or CDs or DVDs or books online isn't the same as ordering an instrument sight unseen. I'm sure you'll be able to find a way to try one without committing to it if you just look around a bit and ask.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Nut/1st fret, width: 1.679".....depth: 0.894"

12th fret, width: 2.047".........depth: 0.945"

The profile is a not too deep "U".

Highway One Teles are slightly wider at the nut (1 11/16"), check them out.
