hi, how do you like the Browns' Canyon? I just read the other post about the other model which doesn't sound too encouraging.

I was impressed..perfectly in tune right out of the box.. sounds good and feels good..for me it was worth $1799...it is very unique..I have to believe I must have got the first one out there as I havent seen any post on any forums or anything on Ebay..my biggest critacism is that Fender hasnt made a bigger deal about the 12 guitars...or the 60th year

You still seem to be the only one. The April 29 shipment to my dealer had no Brown's Canyon model in it, nor any information from Fender as to why it wasn't.

I find it inexcusable for Fender not to keep dealers in the information loop as to when their orders are shipping or delayed ..... it makes the dealer look bad when it is in fact Fender's fault.

hi, my dealer confirmed that most models have been pushed back 3-4 months. The Brown's Canyon is shipping in June and the Modern Thinline in July....Disappointed but I hope the wait will be worth it.

I don't have a problem waiting another month or two. Fender makes top quality products, so the wait will be worth it.

The Sam Ash website has the revised dates:

Thanks for the information, but I will believe the delivery date when my dealer calls me to advise the guitar is on the way to me! :D

Love that attractive AAA flamed maple top! :D

My only gripe is the lack of grain due to use of alder for the bodies. The AAA flamed maple cap would be much nicer with a northern swamp ash body.

I ordered one.
When it came in I was very disappointed.
The maple flame top wasn't even close to being AAA flame maple, as you could hardly see the flame.
In addition, the book matched flame top was different color tones from side to side below the bridge, and appeared to be a 2 color burst, not the 3 color burst, seen at NAMM.
Finally, there was a long line that stretched nearly the length of the back of the guitar that may have been a very odd alder grain marking, or a filled crack, which is very hard to believe if that is what it was.
Obviously I did not buy the guitar.
Additionally, the NAMM model of this "40th Anniversary" recreation, had the correct American Deluxe gold bridge, as seen below, without the cheesy Fender logo on the bridge plate.
The NAMM model also had gold plated stainless steel block saddles, and not gold plated stamped steel saddles which are incorrect from a 40th Anniversary Model perspective.
The Tele that I was to receive, looked nothing like the beautiful NAMM model below, and neither does the one pictured above.
What a shame... :(

There are some differences between the Tele-bration FMT and the 40th Anniversary models.

The 40th Anniversary Telecasters came with a set of Texas Special pickups, 4-way switching, a bound body and an abalone-inlaid flamed maple neck. They were also offered in various other finishes than antique sunburst as opposed to the Tele-bration FMT.

Additionally, the Tele-bration FMT models feature black dots on a plain maple neck, Delta Tone pickups and circuitry.

You are quite correct, Chromeface.

However, the "Telebration" Flametop Tele was still patterned after the 40th Anniversary Telecaster.
And the guitar that I was going to receive was still quite a disappointment compared to the picture of the NAMM guitar.

The bottom line is that given the change in the bridge, and the change from a 3 color burst to a 2 color burst finish, the limited production Flametop isn't the same Flametop Tele that was shown at NAMM (below).
And the flamed maple top on the Tele that I ordered was extremely weak, as compared to the NAMM Flametop Tele.
It certainly couldn't be considered "AAA" grade, as has been the case with most of the pictures of Flametops that I've seen on eBay.

In my opinion, Fender should not show a guitar at NAMM, that is represented to be an up coming limited production guitar, and then produce what amounts to a similar, but still, completely different and inferior guitar for its limited production run.

BTW Chromeface, I'm not a fan of alder in guitars with transparent finishes, either.

I TOTALLY AGREE transparent finishes are more suitable for guitars made from northern lightweight swamp ash or any fancy wood such as koa and zebrawood.

Chromeface,

Check out the fate of the beautiful Ash Tele that is featured in this thread.

It's your guitar?

Looks like a "notchless" partscaster assembled from various parts.

The cherry burst finish on the ash body looks gorgeous, it suits the 3-ply mother-of-toilet-seat pickguard to perfection.

Not sure if this early 1980's twangbeast comes with an S-1 switch.

I have a Lamboo on order, the dealer couldn't get hold of a Brown's Canyon which would have been my first choice. He tells me it should be here at around the beginning of August. I can't wait to get my hands on it. :D :D :D

I only placed the order and payed the deposit on 3 May 2011 so I'm sure there should be the odd Telebration still floating around somewhere.
