hi, how do you like the Browns' Canyon? I just read the other post about the other model which doesn't sound too encouraging.

Check out the Fender Telecasters listed on their product page.
I went on there today to look up a guitar and it was gone.
The number of 2011 Telecasters has been reduced from more than 40 to just 20 Telecasters.
What's up with that???

And not 1 mention of the 12 anywhere.

I think there is a lot of marketing games being played this year and perhaps not enough focus on doing the "job" right. You deserve more info on the wood and a good picture. Fender should have promoted it better. I just saw today that they are now introducing the Pawn Shop series with a couple of interesting Strat body / Tele neck guitars. I like the idea.
Love your new Tele and it's history. Enjoy

On the back of the certificate is the story....was a little dissapointed about that.... could have at least put a black and white real photo instead of a scanned piece of paper.

Here's a nice high resolution picture of the Brown's Canyon Trestle Bridge from 1876.
The web page doesn't seem to allow you to copy the picture.
But there is always the snipping tool!!

I have one on order from Harry's Guitar Shop that Harry ordered for me at Namm. I hope these guitars are not pushed back till a June delivery, but all good things you have to wait for. I played the Brown Canyon at the winter Namm Show and the quality and craftsmanship, I compare to the custom shop, excellent guitar! Does anyone have correct information on delivery for these guitars and I heard that dealers are not able to order more of them, all sold out.

The Browns Canyon and the Flame Top Tele are out.
It is most likely that no further orders are being taken.
To get any single 60th Anniversary Tele, shops had to agree to buy one of each of the 60th Anniversary Telecasters.
So Harry ordered all of these Teles at NAMM, if he ordered any.

Harry ordered the complete set and he is waiting on the Brown Canyon to come in for me. Rumor mill has it that the Canyon is not being delivered to the dealers until June. If anyone from Fender could elaborate on this, it would be great. :D

I've got both the '62 Telecaster Custom and the Modern Thinline on order through Sweetwater several weeks ago. My Sweetwater rep told me they (Sweetwater) were allocated 3 of each model.

I talked to the rep today and he said the wait list for these is now anywhere from 3-6 long for the 3 of each they'll get, so there will be some folks out of luck. (I was early enough that I've got my two locked up).

He said that Fender is showing an October delivery, which he said in reality means Fender doesn't have a firm delivery time yet.

Even if it's October, it'll be worth the wait!

I've got the Brown's Canyon and Modern Thinline on order and that's what I'm hearing, June for the Brown's Canyon and July for the Thinline. Although it looks like a few of the Brown's got out as evidence from the posting here and this one

I usually by my Fenders from the custom shop, but when I saw the Brown Canyon, it totally flipped me out and I had to get one.

Where are these teles being made?

I see they are all part number 017 ... What does that signify?

Just curious at this stage.

Thanks.

2 of these Tele-bration anniversary models are really eye-catching in terms of features and construction: the '75 Custom and the '60s Light Rosewood.

The '75 Custom combines a Tele Custom with '75 Jazz Bass cosmetics while the '60s Light Rosewood, although a modern take to George Harrison's original late 1960's Rosewood Telecaster, employs a rosewood top and back with a core of dark stained spruce in the middle.

I don't like the fact that Fender failed to put rosewood sides on this guitar to cover the pine core lamination. The course pine grain on the sides of the guitar is completely different from the rosewood. At a minimum, you would think that they could have used alder, or a chambered alder to save weight, which would not have the offensive pine grain. But the sides really should have a rosewood lamination.
