I would call a big Music Store outlet like Guitar Center or Sweetwater (800 222-4700) as they probably have an inside track as to when shipping will start.

I had ordered the Flame Top Telecaster in January.
It came in about March 21.
When I went to pick up the Flame Top Tele, I was very disappointed.

The maple flame top was nearly invisible and there was a distinct color tone difference between the book matched flame top halves below the bridge.
The Flame Top Tele that I was to receive certainly did not look like the pictures of the beautiful Flame Top guitar from NAMM 2011.

When I flipped the guitar over, there was a long strange "line" that ran nearly the entire length of the body. This was not a lamination line. While the "line" was probably some sort of freak alder grain marking, frankly, it looked too much like a filled crack to be acceptable.

As a side note, the intonation was adjusted so poorly, that there were no harmonics at the 5th and 7th frets which is pretty ridiculous. You can measure 25 1/2" from the bottom of the nut to the high "E" bridge saddle contact point and set the rest of the saddle staggers by eye, and have the intonation not be that far out of adjustment.

All of these factors call into question the quality control on these limited edition Teles.

In addition the gold bridge saddles on the NAMM guitar appeared to be gold plated, solid stainless steel, American Deluxe style bridge saddles, and not gold plated American Standard style stamped steel bridge saddles, which were on this guitar, and which are not in accordance with a reissue of the 40th Anniversary Custom Shop Telecaster, which this guitar was modeled after.

Needless to say, I did not accept the Flame Top Telecaster.

Instead, I then built an '83 Smith Era, Fullerton Plant, tribute Ash Telecaster, from a Mighty Mite body that I found on eBay, and a relatively rare, '83-'84 Fender/Schaller bridge.

This Telecaster turned out to be a much nicer guitar in my opinion, than the Limited Edition Flame Top Telecaster that I was to receive, at half the price.

Hi Hotrod40,
When you post your Photobucket shots, post the IMG Code, not the Direct Link.
Then the picture will appear automatically for anyone that is logged in.
Hope you are happy with your Browns Canyon Tele!!

I was impressed..perfectly in tune right out of the box.. sounds good and feels good..for me it was worth $1799...it is very unique..I have to believe I must have got the first one out there as I havent seen any post on any forums or anything on Ebay..my biggest critacism is that Fender hasnt made a bigger deal about the 12 guitars...or the 60th year

Maybe is was just a fluke.
Or, maybe not.
It would be nice to see some pictures of other Flame Tops.

On the back of the certificate is the story....was a little dissapointed about that.... could have at least put a black and white real photo instead of a scanned piece of paper.
