60th Anniversary Telecaster

Just bought a 60th Anniversary Telecaster S/N 10227509.

Any know how if this is the real deal and how to interpret the numbers?

Repost from the Stratocaster Forum:

I'll go ahead and confirm that this is one of two types of serial numbers used by Fender for 2010. That is all you can get from the serial number - the approximate year of the guitar. Without seeing photos that sounds legit to me.

From the time they used up the "Z9" (2009) prefix serial numbers until about April of last year Fender just used a "10" prefix serial numbers on the USA production models. Starting about May they began using serial numbers with a "US10" prefix for USA production models.

Fender needs to update their "Product Dating" pages; they end with 2005.

True, they don't keep up with their dating very well and most of the Japanese dating is incorrect also. A lot of folks rely on it and a little more attention to it would be appreciated.

Without a picture and more information it is impossible to know what Telecaster it is that you have BH.
The fact that you may have bought a Telecaster with a 60th Anniversary neck plate, doesn't mean that you have bought a "60th Anniversary Telecaster."

"60th Anniversary Telecasters" are only those "limited edition" Telecasters that are being released on a monthly basis in 2011, and the 60th Anniversary Telecaster Limited Anniversary Edition Model: 011-6112-768, that is being offered throughout 2011.

All Fender Telecasters that are manufactured in 2011 will receive the 60th Anniversary neck plate.
This designates that they were made in the 60th year of Telecaster production.
It does not designate that your guitar in necessarily a "60th Anniversary Telecaster."
It is also not unusual for early 2011 Fender guitars to have necks with 2010 serial numbers.

I can confirm...
My 2010 Tele American Special with serial number US1024xxxx has the 60th Anniversay neck plate, but is NOT a 60th Anniversary edition.
