A dumb question = Does the string tree hight on a Tele have any effect on those two high strings? I know it will change the angle of them to the nut but is that a factor as far as intonation or ease of bending?

Some argue that the more the angle, the more the sustain. Some think that's bull.

I honestly can't tell the difference. But I can tell you that the string tree is there to keep the High E and B string from popping out! That's it's main purpose!

Happy playing!

Height can affect intonation.
I had one that was short and couldn't figure out why the upper frets could not be brought in.
Then something told me to check the string tree - voila.

The string tree on my Tele was screwed down as tight as it would go. I thought it looked like an easy place to scratch the finish on the headstock so I loosened it up a little and made it alot easier to change strings. It didn't effect anything as far as I can tell.
