Hello guys,

That hole is in all of the MIM Tele bodies under the pick guard. It has nothing to do with Joe specifically. I believe Fender uses it to identify MIM vs. MIA bodies.

Thankyou all for helping me to figure it out. But I would say why PAY $3,000.00 or more for a reissue of a 60's Tele, when Joes sounds like the real deal and plays like it. I had a late 60's, and a G&L when the Tele came out, and Joe's may not look good, FEEL and SOUND counts, do you all not think!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D

The hole is used in the manufacturing process as a way to hold the guitar for routing and finishing. Other model Fenders have holes in different locations but always under the pg where they will be hidden.

I've got a JS Tele, so I understand why you like yours so much. Mine plays great and sounds fantastic. It is a great model Tele, though my opinion is not always shared with alot of Tele players. No if only I had a roadworn maple neck to put on my Strummer Tele...that would really make me happy!
