I can't put the #$@*&!% thing down! My fingers hurt.

To anybody who reads this forum and is considering a Tele: get one. I play in a hard rock band. We have your punk elements here and there, your metal elements elsewhere, and your pop rock blanket to hold it down, and this guitar does it all. The clean tones I can get are so clean and the pickups put out such amazing tone that I had no regret about buying this thing. My wife even loves it.

I don't play blues or country (want to learn more blues), and now I know the Fender has been dubbed a "country guitar" or "blues guitar" wrongly. I have an American Standard and the thing rocks, gives me a dirty tone I never had, but with great clarity at the same time. Riffs I used to play on my Ibanez are now actually heard with the rest of the band.

Get a tele. That is all.

The Don, You are so right. I'm an older guy and have pretty much run the gamut of guitar styles and always come back to my Tele's. I'm playing a blacktop tele right now and that thing really kicks it out. Nothing better than having a serious Telecaster problem. :D

It's like crack, gentlemen. I've played all sorts of guitars, but this thing I can't get enough of. The best part about it at shows is that it's going to be deceiving. People will see Tele and hear our first song, which is real hard and fast, and be shocked that a Strat and Tele are making that noise.

I was playing a mex strat and it was a good guitar. I became interested in the tele style. I was looking into a 72 thinline did not get one. I was checking e bay and there was a nice Nashville b bender and like you say it is hard to quit playing. The usa guitars are so good. I have semi retired from work and with the mustang III amp I have hobby that I can do till I tip over. Horton

Picked up a 73 a while ago, was my first Tele and I must say I love the tone on it. Unfortunately I have too many guitars and one must go, so it's between my Tele and my 76 LP Deluxe since I cant decide which I want to keep :( First one that sells I'll keep the other, and that is a mean way to decide...

Of all the guitars I've sold over the years, I regret selling my first Tele the most. It was a Blonde with maple neck I got new in 70. I got a new Gibson L6S and wasn't playing it that much. You really don't realize how much you like one until you don't have one anymore. I even modded a Strat trying to get what I was missing. There's just something magic about that simple 2-pickup slab of wood that no other guitar offers unless it's a copy.

I know, I tend to prefer the Tele more than the LP, more my style I guess, sound wise. I wish the LP would sell, I'm more of a Fender guy anyway.

For a while in the late 60s the Tele was Pete Townshend's go to guitar I believe that it was a Tele that he used on I Can See For Miles. In an interview during that period he said that Tele was his favourite guitar because it was almost indestructable-quite an endorsment coming from him-and he dismissed Gibsons as fragile junk.

So many LPs so many broken headstock. Come to think of it, mine is a 76 deluxe red wine like some of his. I dropped mine in the basement the other day and first thing I looked at when I picked it up is the headstock, we got lucky this time.

Yes! I recently bought a 72 RI and I love it more than life itself! I get lots of compliments on it. The tones I get out of the pickups are phenomenal. I run it through a Deville and know how how I ever played with out it...
