Hi everyone.

I am new to this forum, well I use to browse here quite a bit however delayed joining the forum as I had no telecasters at the time.

Well at last after looking for what seemed like an age, I finally saw this John 5 Telecaster, I have been after it for as long as I remeber and to finally be able to hold it and play it is an amazing feeling.

Anyway enough of boring me here are some pics I would like to share :

Does anyone know the approx production dates on this guitar, I would love to find out.

My other budget J5 model, although still a brilliant guitar for the price :D

Sorry for bad pictures, anyway look foward to seeing you all on the boards.

Take care

Chris

Very nice. I like the John 5 Tele's. John's a great guitarist, and I think people tend to overlook that based on the horrible music Rob Zombie has been writing.

Chris,

Welcome to the Tele forum! I'm glad you got your J5.

I'm a dyed-in-the-wool traditional Tele guy, and don't much like variations, but I make an exception for the J5 guitars. I really like them and I'm jealous of what you have!

I've been watching this one on eBay.

I kinda like the headstock. I'll have it one of these days...

I totally get what you mean, I really would like to pick up some traditional teles at some point, Im in the process of clearing out my esp guitars which will fund a few Teles hopefully
Thanks for the link also.

Much agreed Tim, I am not a real fan of Zombie tbh, more Johns solo efforts.

Chris,

The link I posted is for the Mexican version of the J5. I think they were made about 5 years ago.

Here's a link to the Fender Custom Shop J5:

http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/TeleJ5sigHB/

You now need the Mexican J5 and the Custom Shop too.

You'd have a very cool Tele collection!

theres not many guitars that i can say that im jealous over, but one of them is any of the john5 teles. i like john and i love his idea of what a tele should be like.
john is going places and so are his guitars.

wow thanks so much thats a really nice compliment, and yes I really do think John is going places, more in his solo work I do not think he is ever pushed enough in bands situations.

john is who really got me interested in the tele. he showed that the tele isnt just for country anymore, and that you can chicken pick with humbuckers and a bit of OD too.
john isnt the exception nor is he the rule, hes just breaking the rules with exceptional guitar playing. john will hit the history books at some point im willing to bet.
hes got his hand in everything at such a young age.
from his image to his brillantness when he speaks, he starts blowing your mind long before he ever plugs in. then, if those werent enough, his playing will knock your socks off.
hes not a legend mind you, but he is very well rounded. ive seen some footage of him in the fender factory while his guitars are being designed and made. they just didnt slap something together and ask him what he thought. he designed those from beginning to end. they had to be right. i would take any of the 3 and be perfectly happy with whichever one i got 1st. key word is "1st".

Sums up how I feel in one, I have followed john since the early days and have been a fanclub member for a while (2 years) and everytime I hear something different, its exciting, its fresh and yes it turned me on to the tele in ways I would never have before.

Here is my collection, a little off topic, but related to posts :

I think there is a lot to be said for tracking a particular artist that you admirer. It provides a focus on technique that you don't get otherwise.
Sure wish I had a Buddy Guy pick :D

Cambo....I have Buddy Guy pick...got it at a concert in Germany while in the AF. It is great, but it sure didn't help my playing none! Well maybe a little....I sure was juiced after the concert and probably practiced more than usual that week!

T2

P.S. Great guitar in a so not traditional tele kind of way...
