Hey all. I decided to show off my way intense and custom Tele style build. It was made from a GFS kit. It was inexpensive so I decided to wild on it. For an inexpensive kit, it actually sounds decent with a clean tone. (Distortion sounds like crap with these pickups. ha) I got the idea for wire mesh from Trussart Guitars.

So without further ado, I introduce you to Matilda:

You guys will probably shred me for this, but I've honestly never been a fan of the Tele headstock. I decided to shape this to something more closely related to the attitude of this guitar.

Beating this thing up was the most fun part!

Only the headstock shape looks aggressive.

Body shape, pickups, electronics and hardware are familiar and more traditional.

If you want a more radical Tele design, find and purchase either a used Japanese Contemporary, Heavy Metal or Custom Shop Flat Head with EMG Humbuckers in mint condition from eBay.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I like it too. Big A for effort and creativity. Agree that the headstock has more aggression than the body. If it were mine, I would add some industrial type pieces like small gears etc. directly under the mesh to give it a little "steampunk" look. If you are unfamiliar with that check it out on the web. I have though about doing that for some time.

Thanks for sharing.

TurnMeTo11,

That is a very cool job. I really like what you have done with the body. I would love to see photos of the build process.

I'll be honest. I think it's pretty cool...except for the headstock.

Thanks guys!

I think aggressive may have been the wrong word. I guess I just wanted something different. I think everyone's guitar should be unique to themselves and stand out a lil from the crowd in some way. This is my take on a classic.

Sorry, it's all just rust, dirt, and a bit of solder!

I love Steampunk, but I could never be able to make something as intricate and ornate as some of the beautiful Steampunk axes out there. And again, I wanted something a little unique to me.

Sorry, I didn't take any building process shots :( It was a lot of fun though. I highly recommend beating the hell out of a guitar sometime! ha.

I named her Matilda because, well, it's not the most attractive name ever. (My apologies to any Matildas out there). I just don't picture a supermodel being named Matilda. I think it's fitting. I'll bet Mad Max would dig this guitar though.

An alternate for Matilda might beHildagard (means 'protecting battle maid' ) probably would fit well since she has her armor.
Just a late night thought.

I hope the case/gigbag has as much character, as well as iron bars to restrain it.

I feel pain just looking at it.

Good Job.
