Hello...
I have a 1985 MIJ Telecaster Contemporary I bought several years ago. I really don't play it so I was debating on selling it. I have a MIJ 52RI Tele and a 1995 Amer Std tele that I play more because I like the tone better.

I see people asking $1200+ for these contemporary tele's on Ebay all of the time. Are they really worth that?? If so I may see if I could trade it and get a different tele or sell and buy another.

Thanks..

Tim

I searched e-bay and yep a couple for sale for the price you quoted, but asking price and selling price can be very different. The japanese telecasters of all types from the mid 80's are great quality and have held up well so you might be able to sell it for a good price, but condition is always a big factor besides collectability if you will.

There is a price guide, but danged if I can't find it for some reason, maybe someone else can post the link.

Yes, I totally understand the "asking price" vs. "purchase price"...

Last time I looked a one, which was a LONG time ago said they were not worth that much...

Mine is in very good condition and plays REALLY nice... just not my style...

Yeah, there is the guy on Ebay who has been trying to sell his 2 black ones for about 6 months now at $1,200.00-$1,500.00 That's why they are still sitting there. I picked this one up from Ebay a few months back for $400.00 (shipped) mint and all original. I was in the right place / right time on a "buy it now". Great axe.

I have been a guitar tragic for many years and although I don't play all that well I do appreciate a fine instrument when I see one. I recently got my hands on MIJ Squier Bullet 1984 and was really taken to the quality build of these instruments.
I have since added to my addiction with a 1992 Squier Hank Marvin Stratocaster and more recently a Fender Contemprorary Telecaster which from the serial number indicates 1986 model. I had never seen one in the flesh only read about them and to my amazement this one popped up in the local Cash Convertors (Pawn Shop) in Perth, Western Australia in remarkable condition with no visible marks.
I paid A$450 for it which having checked on some of the more knowledgeable sites, seems like a good buy and due to the condition is probably worth considerably more. (See pictures when I can work out how to post). I welcome any comments.

First you need to upload your pics to the internet. Use a pic hosting site (imgur, imgbb, flickr or such - avoid photobucket) or some common web framework like e.g. facebook, googlephotos - whatever you're familiar with.
The important thing is that the web site provides you with a pic address - that's the one starting with 'http' and ending in '.jpg'.

Copy the pic address, and use the IMG-command (visible when you write a message) on the forum.

Preview your post so everything is OK.
