Oh, I forgot to mention that I have tinitus too. That is my major problem but playing electric bypasses the crap so I can enjoy as normal. I spent four years in the Air Force and worked at the end of the runway. Never thought about it, but that may not have helped my hearing problem. But - the sound of the old F-4 or B-52 charging down the runway is a sound I would not have wanted to live without.

I am actually quite happy with the QC on my MIM Tele. Other than the fact the intonation was way off, everything else is very good.

By the way, what the hell is FOH?

Ah yes........Phantoms! They roar don't they.
Tinitus ain't so bad. Hell.........everybody gets old. That's the rules.
And parts are supposed to get worn. Or otherwise exhibit deterioration. That is what makes old wood sound better.
I am rambling............which is another sign of age.
My Baja is really good too. And if the bad nut is all I gotta deal with, then 'm still OK with it. But they really should be aware that this is happening. And maybe someone is watching this thread too. You never know.
Shoot! I can find something wrong with any guitar. It's a curse.
I've been having a little problem with one eye recently. And I gotta get that fixed before I can get the nut fixed. I have been finding that my Pro Tools monitor is getting blurrier and blurrier every day. And I got way too many irons in the fire to go blind.
It's an evil spiral that time places before us. But we go happily.

FOH = Front of House = Mix position for concert sound and location of most lighting control.

Hell yes, everything does get old. I achieved Medicare age last Friday and I'm starting to exhibit deterioration.. I too keep to active to allow the deterioration to get in the way. Hang in there.
FOH - I guessed at that but thought all the mixing consoles are in the back. They use the front to sell the high priced tickets.

Actually, that mix location IS known as Front of House. And when the Superstar singer comes to the front and center edge of the stage, he is at Down Stage Center. Stage left is House Right and vice versa.
I got my Tele taken apart yesterday. And you know, I believe that Fender could do something to improve the access to the truss rod. The only way you can adjust it correctly is to remove the pickguard and the neck pick-up.

Jeez...............here I go again.

I have read that the way to adjust the truss rod is to loosen the four neck bolts approx 1/8" at top and 1/2" at the back. Then tilt the neck back for access to the truss rod screw. Watch out to see if there are any shims and note their position. I have not done this yet myself and don't look forward to it. There is also a suggestion to use some low adhesion masking tape to cover the pickup cover.
Did you actually pull the neck to do the adjustment?

I really try not to do that. Because my theory (no matter how flawed it may be) is to do as little as possible to make a correction. When I am working on a guitar, it is typically in a rush and under great pressure. And when I am not under great pressure, my shortcuts follow me home. If the rod needs a tickle, then all I want to do is tickle it. I am sure that there are people here that will want to wretch and curse me for not doing it right. But my methods have been working for me for over 40 years.
Sometime the rod will only need 1/2 turn or less to bring it back. And I should NOT have to field strip the thing to do that. Generally it has changed due to climate or whatever. So I'd rather adjust it with the string tension on it. Then it is up to me to NOT over correct.

Yeah. I use the tape a lot.

Telechaser,

I now know what my problem is - CHS  Fortunately we can always turn the amp up.
The wife thought I was just getting stupid. It is a shame they didn't warn us when we were younger but we probably wouldn't have listened anyway.
Doctor told me that my ears actually hear different pitches. Screw him. Fortunately I'm my biggest fan anyway.

Play on!

THEY ...can say what they want. My old man told me I was gonna go deaf. So did my Ma. But HELL.....they were in the war. And we all know that nothing loud ever happened there. It's a LOAD of crap. we all know what damages our ears & what doesn't. And somebody is always gonna be tellin' ya NOT to do something.
I'm not blind yet either. And I've always had CHS. So I'm told.

I can still hear sounds outside that only my dogs can hear. And my wife won't be quiet long enough to listen. The truth is that the damage is done in frequency bands. Most of my hearing loss is in the upper range of human voice. You know. Right up there where my wife's voice is. Seriously though, I do have a slight loss around 1800 to 3K. But when I mix a show, it is not a problem because I just raise the SPL up to between 98 and 105db and I can hear GREAT. And it really feels good at that level too.

Hearing loss...............Ha!...................What?
