So my tele is pretty bright sounding as most of them are. I was looking at seymour duncan humbuckers on the Warmoth website because I want to replace the overly bassy and dull sounding GFS Fender widerange style bucker in the neck position on my '72 tele custom.

I noticed they tell you what kind of guitars the pickups are recoommended for. I was initially looking at the '59 but it said it was recommended for mahogony and darker sounding guitars because of it's brighter nature to balance it out. I noticed the Alnico Pro II and the Seth Lover were in the output range I am looking for and are recommended for brighter maple necked guitars, hence my tele.

I realize these are just recommendations and it ultimately comes down to the user but I don't want an overly bright humbucker in the neck position either, so I am thinking I'm going to go with their recommendations since I don't have much experience at all with humbuckers.

What are people's experiences with the Lover and the Alnico Pro II?

You should go play a new Road Worn Players Tele, they have and SD '59 in the neck. It will give you a really good idea about what that will sound like. I was down to that or the Seth Lover when I was going to put on in my HWY 1. I like the sound of the '59 personally, the Seth Lover was a little too "midrangey" for me. Just my $0.02

Thanks for the advice. It helped me a lot. I watched some youtube vids of them and it turns out the '59 is pretty much exactly what I'm going for. It makes the bucker I have now sound quite muddy.
