Does anyone know why the Aged Pearloid replacement pickguard for Tele's does NOT have the two screw holes pre-drilled that goes on either side of the opening for the neck pickup?

I've noticed that plain ones do and tortoise shell, even white pearloid ones do. But the aged pearloid ones don't. I have no clue as to why this is. I don't mind drilling the holes myself, but I didn't notice this until after I'd purchased it.

Anyone know why this is? Thank you in advance.

They probably just haven't got to it yet. The mounting screw holes are the for the newer generation of Teles. Fender has never been known to offer a huge variety of replacement parts. Also, if a current model does not come stock with any given part, it's unlikely they will offer it separately. The good news is that there are a couple of other websites that offer almost any pickguard you could imagine and some do custom orders on the cheap.

Some Teles have the neck pickup screwed right into the body. The Classic 60s series for example:

I think the pickguard you're looking at may be to those specs.

You can order a pickguard from Warmoth for $30, and you can get it with or without the screw holes.

You can also mount your pickup directly to the body of the guitar as Fender used to and still does on some models. I am sure some people will claim a tonal difference, but I can't hear it.

I recently ordered a black 3 ply pick guard for a new Baja Tel and didn't realize they came with or without the holes till I started filling out the form. Glad they ask or it would have looked pretty stupid with holes since the pickup is screwed directly to the guitar. ( call it vintage) :D
There are lots of great pick guards out there but I understand that you have to be careful with pre 2002 MIM's as the placement of parts was not as precise. If any points are a little tight, a Dremel with a small conical stone does a nice job of removing plastic. But- work slowly.
Enjoy the project.
