I am thinking wether or not it would be a good idea to drill out the pickguard and wire in a Jazzmaster pickup in the neck position and some kind of upgraded single coil for the bridge position. I have a "lite ash" telecaster that I got new at Guitar Center for $450. I am not too sure about what model this is. Im assuming the body is made out of ash wood and I think the 'lite' refers to the shade of wood or something?? because it definatly is not a very light weighted guitar. It came in a natural color which has a more darker almost browned tint compared to the American natural finishes which appear to be almost yellow tinted. It also came stock with a tort shell pickguard. I like the guitar but I want to slowly hook it up into a more original guitar. First I wanted to start by adding new pickups- mainly changing out the neck one for the jazzmaster, then changing out the rear for an american one or something maybe a little hotter. I also wanted to replace the stock bridge with a brass bridge maybe, i def. want the new bridge to have the lips around it where as mine is just a flat slate of metal. then i was thinking going warmoth rosewood neck.. in the end the guitar would not be original by means of how it came stock but i think it would be really cool. anyways.. any thoghts on the JM pickup??

It would probably work great, but for visual balance (and a similar tone) I'd go with a P-90 (gritty) or a mini-humbucker (more refined).
