I considered a MIA when I bought mine but knowing that I would be modding it figured why spend all that money if I'm only going to be changing everything so I went with the MIM. The best thing was I only paid 600 with mods on it. And that was before the Fender price hike.

I agree, a tele modded to your own specs is the best way you can go

I got a good price on a MIA Strat HSS in '06 and bought it. I also bought the MIM blackout tele a couple years ago.

After hearing a friend's MIM strat with Lindy Fralin Blues Specials and new pots, orange drop capacitor, bone nut and cloth wiring, I would urge a prospective buyer to go this route. This guitar just blew both my MIA and MIM guitars out of the water. There are many aftermarket custom pickup makers that make incredible pickups.

If Iwere looking for a strat or tele I would buy a used one that felt good, then take it to a luthier and have it modded

I agree!
Best way to do your own "Custom Shop" guitar.

EVH build Frankenstrat. Its not just pieces of guitar put together for him to play it is a statement. " It's not only the guitar that makes the sound good " :)
