Hi Guys

I'm new here, thanks for having me.

I am logging my guitars for insurance purposes. I have a '52 reissue tele that I bought around 2006. I am recording all my serial numbers but I cannot find one on this tele. When I look at the dating chart information they all say "except for 52 reissue' Can someone tell me where I can find the serial on this guitar?

Thanks

Hi there
it is indeed the number on the bridge plate

this number also will tell you the exact age of your RI (mail to fender for this )

Thanks guys. I thought the number on the bridge was the patent number since it said patent pending. But that's why I am the Gitard.

That's a odd place for a serial number, 2 screws and you can change serial numbers. Verrry interesting.....

That's just the way they did it back then (say 1950-1954) on the Broadcaster/"Nocaster"/Telecaster so they recreated it for the AV '52. Side note - the very earliest Strats in 1954 had the serial number engraved on the plastic back plate that covers the trem springs - which a lot of folks simply removed to make string changes easier. I know the Strats switched to having the serial number on metal neck plate after those first few months of production in 1954; I would have to assume that Teles also switched about the same time.

I had a 2004; it did have a "certificate" with the serial number as well, which is a good thing since the guitar also came with an additional 6-saddle vintage bridge (in the case, not installed) that did not have a serial number on it.

if you want to be sure, SN on bridge plate should correspond to date on the neck

On Tele reissue '52 there are no number/date on the neck. The serial on the bridge plate is the only number

The neck date is penciled on the heal end of the neck on the 52's but you have to loosen the neck screws to see it. Both of the ones I have owned or a couple buddy's had all had them penciled this way. FWIW.

Enjoy

4 DIGITS STAMPED ON BRIDGE PLATE U.S. '52 Vintage Telecaster 1982-1988 (Check neck date for specific year)
5 DIGITS STAMPED ON BRIDGE PLATE U.S. '52 Vintage Telecaster 1988-present (Check neck date for specific year)
