I think some of you have mentioned using a couple of different P-90s?

Here's my partscaster with a SeymourDuncan Phatcat P90. Sounds awesome.

I want a harmonic design Z90 for my neck position.
I'm not sure if its technically a P90, but its a humbucker sized single coil.

Here's my 'relic'd' (badly) tele with an Iron Gear bridge P90 in the neck before I screwed it in.
Can I get a surround for a P90 like the ones for humbuckers?? I like this without the pickguard but the pickup rattles about a bit in the gap..........

Has anyone tried a Seymour Duncan Phatcat p90 in a blacktop tele bridge position yet?
I'm going to do it but I have concerns about noise. The humbucker thats in it now is dead quiet so I wonder if it will cause trouble.

Is that in response to my pic or the one above?

If it is to me then, quite simply.....it sounds great to me.......

It has a kind of 'fat' sound that cuts through really nice from the Humbucker in the bridge. It is a bit like my STrat's neck/mid position but with more bite.........(problem is I don't know if my STrat in that pos sounds like anyone else's...........)

bugger it's hard to explain.........

I suppose(and I have been playing for the last couple of hours to try and describe it) it sounds like, as I strum, the bass is a bit like a STrat neck and the mids and highs become a bit like a STrat mid pickup. I have no idea how 'hot' the bridge pickup is. Apparently it is the first Catswhisker 'Lil Tiger' and is just described as high output. It definitely packs a punch and you hear that in conjunction with the P90 which makes for nice clean and lovely driven tones...............sorry I couldn't be more specific.

Here's mine:

It's a 1995 MIM Tele Special. It started off with a coil-tapped humbucker in the neck position and a 5-way switch. For a while, it was converted to Esquire specs (took out the neck humbucker and replaced w/blank pickguard).

Later, I put a Mighty Mite P90 in the neck position (routed the pickguard out myself; not too bad for an idiot with a Dremel tool) and put in the four-way Telecaster switching. There's also a Fender "No-Load" tone pot installed. I think it will stay this way to perpetuity.

People sometimes badmouth Mighty Mite products, but I love this pickup. It's got great tone, it's not noisy (especially for a P90) and I got it off ebay for $20. Everybody (even gear snobs) who plays this guitar is surprised at how good it sounds.

I like MIghty Mite.... :? Got a beautiful tele neck from MIghty MIte one of the nicest I've tried.

I asked earlier but the question got lost in amongst the pics and sorry to hijack the thread a wee bit but is it possible to get a surround for a P90 like you get for humbuckers? I put the P90 in the neck on my tele and can't be bothered cutting out a pickguard and quite like the look without the guard anyway.....

Cheers

I'm thinking of trying some Duncans -

- Bridge: Little '59™ for Tele ST59-1b
- Neck: P-90 Stack® STK-P1 (Cream)

A friend of mine tried this combo and said that "The P-90 is maybe a bit muffled, but I think a change to a 500k volume pot would do the trick. The P-90 tone is quite authentic and at the same time the Tele twang is present.

The bridge pup, the little '59 has a clearer tone, and it matches the neck perfect IMO."

Here's his modded Tele :
