I bought a brand new American Deluxe Tele in Butterscotch Blonde a month ago with the new N3 noiseless pickups. Last night I picked it up and noticed that with the selector in the middle position and the S1 switch on, there was little of no sound apart from a faint tinny sound. At first I thought the S1 system had failed. I turned it off and put the pickup selector to the bridge position and I got a full sound. When I switched to the neck pickup, I got the same tinny sound that I was getting from the middle position with the S1 switch turned on. It sounds like I'm losing 95% of the output from the neck pickup which will obviously affect the functionality of the S1 system, so the issue lies with the neck pickup. I'm going to bring the Guitar back to the guy that I bought it off but does anyone know what would cause this problem? Considering the amount of money I paid for this Guitar, I'm very p*ssed off. :(

Hi torresfan,

There was just another post about a similar problem on the Strat part of the forum, the wiring on his Am Dlx Strat w/ N3s was wrong and had to be rewired at the store where purchased. Definitely take it back to where it was purchased for warranty repair.

My 2010 American Deluxe came from the factory with a dead neck pickup. I was there when the store unboxed it. Read my thread about it.

Yep, this just happened to mine as well...it didn't come this way from the store, but this same behavior just started last week...I'm waiting to take it in for warranty repair, but it would be nice if companies were more diligent about product checkouts (QA if you will) before shipping out $1700 guitars for sale...

A noiseless pickups is a stacked "humbucker" design involving two separate stacked pickups.
It sounds like only the bottom, hum cancelling pickup is functioning.
Good luck!

Hi Guys,

The Guitar went back to the dealer. It was gone for nearly two months and finally I was told it could be up to six more months as the parts had to come in from the US and there were only 2 shipments a year. I was then told that I had suffered enough and would be offered a full refund, which I got. While I was waiting for the money to clear, I considered a Gretch Duo Jet, a Gibson SG and a few other Guitars. Then, by sheer luck, I wandered into a local Guitar store and there hanging up in the shop was a brand new American Deluxe Tele in aged cherry burst with a maple neck. It even had the 60th anniversary neck plate. I bought it on the spot. I believe that there is a one year waiting list on these so I consider myself pretty lucky. Also, this new Guitar was €130 cheaper than the Butterscotch Blonder model I had so I got some money back. Hopefully I'll have more luck than the last one. :)

Here's some pictures:

if that sounds as fine as it looks you're in business!!

maybe I got lucky but my 7/10 Am.Dlx. Strat (Blizzard Pearl/Maple fb/SSS) arrived in flawless condition, got it last Sept. and I STILL have a hard time putting it down when I play it....it's cost me literally hundreds of hours of sleep, but I LOVE it !

It came from Sweetwater Music, where it is inspected, set-up, and "test driven" before it ships.
Bought several geets from SW & not had one arrive in less than perfect shape yet :!:
