About three years ago I had a great luthier put together an Andy Summers Tele for me. I chose some different options, but the overall tone, look and vibe is very much like Andy's Tele (only without all the scars I'd like to make my own).

Specs:
vintage maple neck
Bound alder 3-color-sunburst body
Jazz HB in the neck that has been coil tapped
a Fender Broadcaster PUP in the bridge
Chromed Brass six saddle bridge
5 position switch
a mid-range scoop/tone knob (1-5 gives me a dark Clapton type tone when the there's lots of gain, 6-10 it's a regular tone knob).
EMG After Burner 20Dbl volume boost

The guitar looks and sounds great. The volume boost gives the pups a really big boost. It's not like having an over drive circuit or a Clapton Circuit. It just brings more volume to the pups, especially in position 2 (coil tapped HB) and 4 (coil tapped HB & bridge pup) where the output drops off when you use them.

PUP positions:
1. HB
2. Single coil neck
3. HB & Bridge
4. Single coil neck & bridge
5. Bridge single coil

Unfortunately I haven't figured out how to post photos to the Lounge

Just create an account at Photobucket, ImageShack or Flickr then upload your images there.

Once you've uploaded your pics, use the [img] tag, insert (paste) the URL address containing the image between and close the tag with a backslash.

I guess your AS Tele replica was built by John Carruthers.

The US Fat Tele has such pickup options without the active electronics.

Thanks for the info. My AS Tele was put together by a guy named Phil Jacoby at Philtone Guitars in Baltimore, MD. He also built a great Strat for me as well.

The After Burner was put in by a October Guitars in Ellicott City, MD.

I've been wanting Fender to make a non-Custom Shop version of this guitar for about 20 years. Who knows if it will ever come to pass.

I've found his webpage (http://www.philtone.com), Phil has already converted a Strat-style ESP 400 into a Roland-Ready guitar. Not sure if it's the Strat you're talking about.

The Strat that Phil did for me had the following specs:
Heritage Maple stained Alder body
Bird's eye maple neck with slab rosewood fret board (Clapton style neck shape).
Fender Locking tuning keys
Fender Texas Special Pick ups
Tortoiseshell pick guard
Aged Fender plastic parts
Bone nut
Medium Jumbo fret
Mother of Perl dot inlay
Fender vintage bridge

He's the best luthier I know. His knowledge and attention to detail is awesome. He also uses a Plek Machine (not sure about the spelling). For those who don't know it's a tool that measures and records the dimensions of your neck.
