Anyone have a diagram that shows the wiring schematic for the S-1 switch on a La Cabronita? I'm about 80% on all my parts and hardware for my la Cab build and trying to decide whether or not to use the S-1 switching or not. Also, any idea which style switch is used for these?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks a million Andy!

Can you tell me more about the S-1 setup. here is my dilemma. I am working on a La Cab build. Typically on my regular Telecasters I use the tone knob very sparingly, I just barely turn it enough to tweak the tone slightly. My understanding is with it barely turned it is blocking most of the signal and with it all the way open it is letting the entire signal go to the pups?

The La Cab body I am going to use is routed for 2 pups, one knob and a switch. Does the S-1 switch act as a Volume and Tone in one knob? Like pushed in it is for tone and pushed out is acts as a volume? I want to make sure I don't have the tone cranked as high as it will go into the pups and/or that I can roll off the tone as needed. Can you explain it for me?

When you push-in the switch, pre-set values of caps are added. The S-1 pot still works as a volume pot. If you're not happy with the pre-set values, you'll need to change the cap values (by soldering in a new value cap, for example).

Thanks for the info. At this point I have decided to have a Cabronita body routed for Volume and tone pots and a switch behind the 2. It won;t be like the true Cabronita, but for me it will be an improvement. Will start a thread for my build once I get it going.

No probs mate!

Looking forward to your build. I like the idea of having a more traditional Tele control layout with the bonus of the S-1 cap switch. Very cool! 8)

I have decided to scrap the S-1 altogether. I am going to have the body routed for 2 pickups, 1 volume, 1 tone and a switch. I'm having Marc Rutters (who provides great bodies, necks, and vintage spec hardware- http://ruttersguitars.com/ ) cut me a custom one. I am going to go with a vintage style halfplate Tele bridge and saddles rather than the Strat bridge. Body cut/routed like this, but with pup routes perfect snug and with the switch closer to the edge end of the body so the traditional Cabronita guard will fit:
