no just trying to get an idea as to what you have.
this guitar shouldnt be overly bright as it first off has buckers in it.
have you bothered to take it to where you got it for repairs?

Hi Sam, and welcome to the forum! :)

What guitar did you have before the J5? (just to get an idea of what tone you're used to)

Also, what amp do you use?

The J5 is quite a powerful tool I should think. It could be that simply the pickups are much stronger than the ones you're used to. It may help to adjust the amp's EQ section.

Cheers!

Nutter

that J5 is a power house indeed, full of tone.
