Okay, so if I want to use my slide(and what type slide works best with Tele's<brass, glass, steel) , do I need to readjust the string height to have extra space?

What if I end up using this one Tele for a slide pretty much all the time-what suggestions are there(such as raising the string height-then I assume readjusting the whole setup to match the raised strings). What about installing one of the raised nuts? would that be advisable.

thanks
Daryl

I'm not too knowledeable on this subject, but I do know that when me or my friend play his Squier Strat with a slide it works just fine and we've never raised the strings in any way. As far as the type of slide...it really just depends on your personal taste as each slide has a different sound. A brass slide will sound different from a glass one, etc. At least this is what I've noticed.

Daryl,

I use a Tele for slide - works great. You should try medium gauge strings, like .011. Raise the action a little, but there's no need for a nut extender. Use a slide that feels comfortable, any type is fine but they do sound different. Chrome Steel tend to be bright, brass a little warmer but heavier, glass is the warmest but they tend to be fatter diameter. I generally use a Dunlop Pyrex (glass) slide or a Dunlop Harris slide (flared brass) on the tele.

The only other adjustment I had to make was to wide the string slots in the nut a little to accommodate the larger gauge strings for the 5th and 6th strings.
