I just picked up this guitar from GC...real nice instrument (with a few tweeks to come) but, I can't find ANY information on it at all..nada...zilch!..doesn't even exist on Fender's site. Not even with a search of the serial numbers...

The sales dude told me it was a "special edition" for GC with only around 300 made...hhhmmm...he IS a "sales dude" so,...???

Does anyone have any idea where I might get some info on this pretty little beast?..."Sea Foam Green ( or "surf") , Fender Humbuckers,"curved at the body" back, maple neck, either 2009 or 2010 I imagine...

I'm stumped.

If it's a FSR ordered by GC they should have all the info/specs that they sent Fender for the production of this particular guitar. Ask the manager or the person who ordered the FSR from Fender. That doesn't make sense that they don't know what they ordered . If they can't supply you the info, and I can't understand why, contact Fender Customer Relations and they can help you out. Good luck!

Why, Thank you...its my Fender-lovin' pleasure to be here.

I just got off the phone with customer relations. There is some confusion over there as the guitar is listed as having the '72 deluxe (Strat) headstock but, it doesn't (much to my delight). All the other specs are the same as the '72 deluxe. The color is actually cqalled "Sea Foam Green Pearl"...very elegant I must say.
It also, appears that there are but around 300 of them as I was told...typical for "FSR" models.

I feel privileged. (or just lucky...) :)

I have e-mailed them some pictures from my phone. Hopefully, they can clear this up...if not for me, for them...

As for the Guitar Center Dude...clueless....

You don't want that Tele - I promise. It's very addictive. You need to send it to me NOW and I'll dispose of it for you! Send immediately!

Welcome Telechaser - you've got a neat Guitar Center FSR. 300 made.

Gee wizz ....you mean ya'll'd take this thing at no cost to me?..Wow...what a great group of guys.... :D

I A/B'ed the new baby against my Baja...a very different creature. Warmer, darker very comfortable but, without the "punch" in the low end although, equally as rich in the mids and mellower in the highs.

The belly cut makes for a VERY comfortable play when sitting and the '72 is much lighter all around....flatter neck (Baja neck like baseball bat..which I like, too) and Alder body..in that sense, somewhat like some Squires...not a bad thing either.

Mind you, I LOVE my Baja...baby got cajones...but the subtle differences are compelling. Can't wait to put a bit heavier (10-42) and higher nickel content string on her this weekend..make a few PU tweeks.
A/B ing through a few different amps as well...although a Telecaster and a 70's Twin Reverb are kind of like peanut butter and jelly....just belong together.

And yes, the traditional Tele headstock was a selling point for me..Only Strats should have Strat headstocks..and not oversized ones at that.

I got a response from Scott at Fender as to her specs so, for those interested:

Confession time: I work for GC and if my memory serves me right, these models were released around Christmastime, hence the Sea Foam Green Peal, Candy Apple Red, and Arctic White color options (I'm surprised they didn't tell us to hang them from a Douglas fir to display them). Our store received two of them, one like yours, and the other in CAR.

These were limited to so many guitars, although I would hesitate when telling a customer exactly how many were made during discussing the guitar with them since they simply do not tell us a definite number. However, since the special order was made by GC Corporate, the production number was probably far larger than if a smaller dealer made it. I can safely say there are rarer FSR Fender guitars out there. I had an '08 FSR Telecaster Deluxe in Shoreline Gold which I purchased from Willis Music (a small chain with stores in KY and OH only) that I didn't hardly see anyone else out there on the web wind up with. That was something of a rare bird. These GC Holiday-Issue Teles I've seen on various internet forums on the other hand, so they're uncommon at best.

They also shipped us a FSR HSS Strat in a weird Candy Apple Red 'burst finish around the same time as the Teles. It's very subtle in person, neat if I'm honest.

Any pics of the Arctic White Tele? I guess this model came with a black pickguard.

Surprised to see this FSR Tele Deluxe with a normal Telecaster headstock and a spaghetti decal. :P

The Spaghetti decal is an early Fender logo used in the 1950s, early-to-mid-1960s and the present day.

I was in my local store a few weeks ago, asking if they could source a sea foam green Tele for me. The only thing they could get is a 62 RI (with rosewood neck), at nearly £1700.00 I decided to pass for now  I love the maple against the green, congrats on the axe OP.
