I dropped my CP 60's strat off at the music store today for a set up/fret filing, and wanted to check out some guitars they had. Noticed a tele hanging on the wall...beautiful candy apple red/candy cola color. Serial # shows it to be a 2004 American Series. Appears to be in mint condition. Plays really nice too. Apparently, it was a consignment, and it hung on the wall for a little while (how long I don't know). The owner decided to trade the guitar into the shop for some other stuff (I overheard one sales guy telling this to another sales guy before I even picked up the tele). Anyway, they have it priced at $599. Honestly, not a bad price for a MIA tele in almost new condition. Last month I bought a used CP 60's from a guy who bought it brand new back in the fall. Got a great deal on it, and I really wanted it, so I bought it. That makes 3 guitar purchases and 1 amp purchase since last June. When I go pick up my strat from the tech, I want to offer $499 for the tele, but I know I shouldn't. I'd have to keep it a little secret from the wife for awhile, so I won't get to play it much, except when she is not around...LOL! It's not a money issue...I just know she will roll her eyes and walk out of the room when she finds out that I bought another guitar, and therefore, I'll have to keep my mouth shut when she goes out and wastes money. See, when I spend money, I buy guitars and amps...things I can sell in a pinch if I need $$$. My wife, like most women, lets money evaporate into thin air, because after she spends money, she rarely has anything to show for it. So, I can keep a limit on what she spends, or I can buy a guitar, and not say a word when she blows money, or, pass on this tele, and save $$$ two ways...no guitar, and I can keep a close eye on my wife's debit card.

Decisions, decisions. I haven't priced out many teles lately, but $599 seems like a fair price for the tele, and if I can haggle it down to $500-$525, it might be worth it. Does that sound like a good price?
