I can't believe it either! Except for the neck and body being made in '59(and the body has been refinished) there's nothing "vintage" left about it. Even the pickguard, if it's the original one, has been altered. The neck pickup is new, was the bridge pickup rewound? Priced that high it doesn't really sound like he wants to get rid of it all that soon. Like I said it's still a cool guitar and I'll bet it plays real nice. Good luck Pete.

agreed mike.
this goes to show that the product is soley dependent on the name behind the item, not the quality of the item. i will say, the body and the neck should still bring a nice chunk of change nontheless, but for that price? i dont care whos name is on it thats just way over priced.

Pete has two Esquires on EBAY. The other one is a complete vintage instrument. Very clean in fact. It's going for the same price as the altered one. That price is probably not far off for a complete vintage model, it's a '56 by the way. I guess you still have to find someone to part with the money though.

LOL...I don't think Pete is hard up for cash...I think he probably gave these or sold at a reasonably price to this guy (a former tech/roadie/friend?)...and this guy is trying to make a huge profit on them.
