I just bought one of these guitars but there may be a good chance that it's a counterfeit. I looked at the neck joint and didn't find markings whcih are similar to a REAL US telecaster that I have. There's no date stamp, no Quality control stamp, and most importantly, there's this weird number, along with a barcode on a white sticker that is underneath the finish.

Can someone please help me with this? It'd be much appreciated if I coud get photos of the neck joints of your guitars, and anywhere else there may be stamps from the factory

thanks very much

Does it have a matching white headstock?

Like so...

There are no current Fender US models of Thinlines, other than from the Custom Shop. If it is real, it would be either MIM or CIJ.

The one above is a MIM model and was a limted FSR. The Special Run was not taken by the retailer and Fender released them to the open US retail market. Only a couple of hundred made, from what I have read.

yes that's exactly the one I have . . .

The only thing which is visually suspect is that the paint inside the "f hole" is a bit runny, looks like the painter made it a bit too think . . . Also, this thing is much heavier than any other tele thinline I've ever played.

Because of the excess weight, I decided to take it apart to look at the date/QC stamps, and found barcode numbers.

The one on the neck is MO1221058 and the one on the body, underneath the bridge is MO115601.

Are these valid numbers?

thanks very much,
Ryan

ps I'll post photos tomorrow
