It's common knowledge that David Gilmour has the 001 Serial Numbered Stratocaster even though it isn't the first one ever produced...

Does anyone know who has the 001 Fender Telecaster?

Doubtful. The early history of the Esquire/Broadcaster/Telecaster is murky at best.

Supposedly the first models were Esquires (one and two pickup models) made in mid-1950, followed later in the same year by the Broadcaster. I have heard a urban legend that Leo Fender 'recalled' some of them because the 'oak' (pine?) bodies had worms, and had the bodies burned!

I have never, ever seen a photo of a mid-1950 Esquire, but occasionally you will see one of a late 1950 or 1951 (supposedly) Broadcaster. I wish that someone would set the record straight and let us know what the EARLIEST known version is (not the prototype that Fender had reissued), and show it to the rest of the world! They can track down practically every known 58-60 'Sunburst' Les Paul there is (see the 'Beauty and the 'Burst' book), so it can't be that difficult!
