I am also in search of a Fat Tele, to replace one my husband had stolen in 2006. I've seen all the comments on here, so I'm gathering that this may be a hard task. I'm trying every avenue I can, so please let me know if y'all know where I can find one! Thank you in advance! This is the one my husband had stolen...it was beautiful!

You might want to look at a Vintage Hot Rod '52 Telecaster. It's now available with a full-size chrome-covered humbucker.

The Fat Tele was discontinued in mid-2003, but if you look hard enough you might be able to find one. Good luck!

There was a replacement for the Fat Tele called the "Tele SH"; however, the colors were different and I believe they replaced the neck humbucker with a different one. Some don't even have the pickguard, and some of them have an S1 switch to split the humbucker. These only lasted until about 2006; I've seen a couple on the web but have never seen a Tele SH in person.

Since these have been gone for a while searching either gbase.com or ebay for a Fat Tele or Tele SH (or it could be listed as "Tele HS" as well) is about all you can do. With any luck you might even find a new unsold guitar in someones stock on gbase.

wildwood guitars has a few they are custom shop guitars that fender makes specifically for them. Only problem is they are very pricey so it depends how much you want to spend.

Hi MrsSam,

Whilst it's not an american HS tele, there is the Roadworn Players series that features the HS configuration

Hope that helps, failing that theres always plenty of good buys on ebay (if you get the guys here to check it out first and make sure you're not getting robbed).

Dan

Also to change it up a little you could look at the Classic Series 72 Custom.

Its a MIM (not that that matters), same pickup configuration but separate tone controls for each pickup. Switch has moved to the upper "horn" and the pickguard changed accordingly.

Not any more.

This guitar is now available with a full-sized humbucker, I've seen one in butterscotch blonde while surfing on the Music Zoo's website:

Apparently the product page has not been updated yet.

Thank you all for your help! I guess because of my lack of knowledge on how these message boards work, I thought I'd receive some sort of notification when you all responded. So I am just NOW seeing your answers, as I googled "fat tele" and my original post came up! I am still searching, and emailed iDodgimus, but I doubt a year later, they still have theirs for sale :(

I'm in the process of going through Fender and getting a quote to have one custom made, but am still searching too! Thank you all for your help!

The search is over! By a huge stroke of luck, I found this one:

and the guys at Sam Ash looked at my pictures and verified it's the same! It'll be here within a week :)

Yep... :)

From what I've told from the description the guitar in question dates from the first year of production. During that period the Fat Telecaster came with both rosewood and maple fretboards.

The maple fretboard option was abandoned in 2001.
