Does anyone else agree they should make the road worn S/H tele as a non-road worn guitar? Often have I liked the road worn tele sound while hating the extra $150 for a "worn" look.

I think if Fender thought the guitar non-worn would sell then they would be making it already. The main things people like about the road worn guitars is the feel of the neck and the look of the wear. The road worn Tele's only have Tex Mex pickups in them right? Those aren't a significant upgrade and if the Road Worn Tele was made in a non-worn model, essentially you have a MIM Std Tele with pup upgrade.

Good thought, I think the hb is a Seymour pearly gate? Don't quote me but I know it's a Seymour, and a nice one at that. I might just upgrade an older mim standard with new pups. I just think the worn bit is a waste of my cash, I could care less about looks, mostly tone for value.

My mistake the pickups are Bridge Pickup: Tex-Mex™ Tele® Single-Coil Bridge Pickup
Neck Pickup: Seymour Duncan® '59™ SH1N Humbucking Neck Pickup - Direct Mount

Frankly I wouldn't buy a road worn or reliced guitar,I grew tired of the fad after seeing my second identical roadworn guitar-give me shiny and new any day.

+1...I have seen a few custom reliced guitars that I liked. But all the road worn guitars of course look the same, and the fretboard is god-awful ugly, and nowhere near accurate "wear".

As to the OP...I'd say an MIM standard as was suggested earlier, with swapped pups...should get you precisely what you're looking for.

I believe that the RW start off as a standard, so that would be exactly what it is.
