Kind of obscure here, but I always liked the solo in the Pretenders' Middle of the Road - unmistakable tele twang.

It may not be the best, but the most surprising one might be Brian May's Tele solo in "Crazy Little Thing Called Love." 8)

"Dead Memories" by Slipknot as its Jim Root that played that on his Flathead Tele on the album version. Could argue "Good Thinking" by Status Quo also is a great solo.

I think this pretty much ends the discussion doesn't it? ;) (only problem is, Stairway was technically never a "hit" if I recall)

With that aside, I'm going to have to second Joe Walsh's half of "Hotel C" too... Joe may not be someone you want overseeing global economic policy or designing a shuttle booster, but good Lord that guy has a brain for some of the best licks I've ever heard... and Don Felder's no slacker either ;)

I guess I've never really considered this question from the point of which guitar was being used so I would have to say something from Dave Gimour or Jonny Lang but to be perfectly honest the first thing that pops into my head is that fun & boppin' light hearted solo on Queen's Crazy Little Thing. It's catchy.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Any of the Buck Owens and the Buckaroos hits, any of the Merle Haggard w/James Burton or Roy Nichols and you got to love that James Honeyman Scott on the Pretenders Middle of the Road, what a tone! Did Walsh cut Funk 49 on a Tele?

Cropper did have a nice run with his Teles before signing with someone else.

Kind of like Johnny Hiland, started with Telecasters, then went to PRS and now is with Ernie Ball MusicMan because of his love for their Silhouette model.
