I have recently purchased a wonderful Classic Player Baja Tele and need to do a string change. I tried for figure out what set came on the guitar, but there was no sticker and the booklet did not say. Even the Fender web, as far as I can figure it out, doesn't have that info.

I normally play a Strat with .009's and I suspect these are .010. The fellow who sold me the guitar gave me a set of DR Pure Blues (pure nickel) since I told him I was playing nickel strings. Strings are 10 - 46 which probably correct.

Any information would be appreciated as I plan to play this baby for a long time.

I bought a Baja Tele when they were first introduced and I'm still loving it. I remember it shipping with 10-46 gauge strings and I have always used 10s on it.

Ah, I just checked Musician's Friend and they still list the string gauge info.

Strings: Fender Super 250R, Nickel Plated Steel, Gauges: (.010, .013, .017, .026, .036, .046)

So 10s it is but I usually stick with Ernie Ball Regular Slinkys.

John,

Thanks for the info. I have been using Ernie Ball nickel wound Super Slinky strings on my Strat.(9's) Great strings.
Good to know that Musician's Friends lists string gauge.

Hmmm, I just noticed that the string gauge info is back on the Fender products page. I swear it disappeared for a while. That's why I checked Musician's Friend. It's listed in Miscellaneous info under Specs. It's good to have it back.

John,

You would think that it would be in the Tele set up section.
It is certainly useful and important, especially for an initial string change. I can see no reason for a gauge change. I sure don't have the finger strength of SRV!
This is my first string job with a three piece bridge so it should be interesting.

I`ve used 10`s on all the Teles I`ve owned. My current Tele is an Am. Deluxe and that has 10`s on it too.

That would be good information to have for a new buyer who is changing strings for the first time. At least the string gauge info is back in the Products section...
