I've been waiting for these to be released. The Roadworn series has been expanded into the players series. The relic has been toned down to "lightly worn," which is great. Also love the HB in the neck.

The 60'th anniversary tele is just stunning. LOVE that blackguard look! All teles this year will come with a special neck plate. Check 'em out and discuss!

The fretboard still looks terribly fake and awful. They did tone down the degree of relic to the body but those still look manufactured and not like a true worn Fender guitar. But they are getting better at least.

I'm optimistic that they will be more of a slight worn/lightly finished board, as oppose to the patterned grimey current worn look. I would love a neck like my Charvelle, but with a thin layer of lacquer that wears off naturally.

What i mean is how they made it look "whitened" or just stripped altogether rather than darkened/dirtied with wear like the vintage Fenders I have seen. But it is probably a process of training the workers at the Ensenada factory and those made there will progress into better looking fretboard relics.

Hate to be a stick in the mud, but it's basicaly a American Standard Tele, isn't it? Priced in the UK at £1079.

Nice body colour, looks wrong with that neck and bridge for me. Like a period correct painted body with a Clapton pale neck. I've never liked modern bridges on tele's despite them giving 100% better performance.
Old fuddy duddy I am.

When are these in store in the UK or Europe and where?

I'm not as impressed as I thought I would be after all the articles I had read about this anniversary model coming out...the colors look wrong somehow.
I do like the modern bridge but for a 60th Anniversary I would expect it to look like the one 60 years ago, no?

I think I like my MIM Tele better. Sad to say... :?

Where's the ash-tray?

Does anyone know if the new "Road Worn Player Telecaster" has a contoured back?

It should have been a Nocaster guitar for the anniversary.

As to the OP...The 60th does look nice, but I don't see what's so special about it for that price tag.
And the roadworns, IMO, are the cheeziest looking relics I've seen. I'd would never waste my money on one. I'll relic my guitars the original way...Playing.

The great thing about capitalism is that, if you don't want to buy a road worn Tele (or other relic'ed guitar), you don't have to.

OTOH, just because you don't want one doesn't mean there isn't somebody that does. You couldn't give me a Nocaster reissue, but it would take a lot of hubris for me to say nobody should be able to buy one just because I don't like them.

The new "worn" of the Road Worn Player's is much better. I wish Fender changed the old RW models to that same finish (specially those with maple fretboards).

The black S-H RW Player's Tele looks tasty indeed!

The roadworn, relic treatment baffles me, I admit it. In my other hobbies, no one pays new prices for an artificially aged product. Can't imagine a Mustang being sold with dents and rust, or a Canon 1DMkIV being sold with vinyl peeling off and scratches on the LCD...but maybe a Harley being sold with oil leaks, hahaha
(I don't have Harleys)

Really expected something more impressive after the previews... don't know why but it somehow doesn't work for me. I guess that I'd like to see a more modern or a more vintage anniversary model... not something that just reminds an American Standard...

The new Road Worns are MIM Stds with a Duncan humbucker in the neck. Oh yeah, and they look just a little road worn. Kind of cool, but I can't say I'm thrilled.
