Just curious, what don't you like about the stock wide range humbuckers?

You know what, the more I play them the better I am liking them. The original reason I was going to change them out was because I want something with a little more bite. Also something a little tighter when I use heavy distortion or fuzz. Ive set up a few pedals that I just use with this guitar and I am very impressed I may just keep them in. The cleans sounds amazing I must say.

I was just about to ask the same question Mike did until I read his post.I wouldn't change a thing about that sweety. The Pups of the Thinlines were about the nicest humbuckers ever made-they had a warmth and mellowness to their tone that had somehow eluded Gibson.I believe that either Seth Lover or Tom McCarthy had a hand in their developement if I'm not mistaken. You didn't give the year of the guitar but if she's an original circa '71 era she could be worth as much as $8,000 and changing anything will cause the value to go down especially a pickup replacement which would cause the value to plummet.BTW I bet she really sings through that Twin.

Yea I decided to just switch my Strat pickups out and leave this guitar stock. They really do sound amazing through my twin.

Thanks for all the advice, I'm glad i didn't react to fast and had time to actually play around with these pickups they do sounds really good.

I'm tempted to get one of these in the summer, I got myself a 72 thinline a few months ago. I love it to bits, sounds like you feel the same way about yours. Enjoy her man, good luck.

I have the same '72 Thinline Reissue and I have left mine stock. The clean tones from Fender's wide range humbuckers sound great through my '65 Twin Custom 15 and '65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue amps, and I don't want to sacrifice that. :)

I lusted after a thinline reissue for many years, but when it came time to buy a new Fender, I went with single coils since I had several humbucker guitars. I still want to pick one up though, as I think those are the bust humbuckers out there, and I certainly would choose them over duncans any day. Anyhow, that is a beautiful guitar you have there, and now I have to go to bed jealous...thanks...

I think the fender wide-range humbuckers used in the MIM reissues sound pretty good, myself. If you are considering swapping them out, Lollar just released the "Regal" humbucker, which is supposed to sound like the original early '70's fender humbuckers.

They cost $400 for the set.

Great looking guitar. I've wanted a thinline for years. I'll have on someday.
