Didn't he recently lose a lot of vintage gear in the flood?

According to a short article in Guitarist magazine (UK, Summer 2010, p.56), Vince Gill did lose gear in the Soundcheck warehouse/rehearsal studio flood. Other artists affected were Keith Urban, Duane Eddy (who lost 31 guitars including his original Guild), Brad Paisley and Peter Frampton. Not mentioning the Gibson guitar factory.

The gear carnage was beyond what words can describe for me.

My sympathies to those who lost precious as well as well loved instruments in the flood.

Vince Gill is one bad mother - a master of country jazz! I love his version of "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town." He does this really tasty bebop solo that would put a lot of jazz players to shame.

It was cool to see him and Brad Paisley playing together last night
at the tribute to Merle Haggard part of the Kennedy Center Honors.

Vince also gave a great speech about the life of 'Hag' and how much he
felt honored to be part of the tribute. A class act for sure!

Vince is certainly a class act! I have a MB 52 Tele on order, and I am really considering changing it to a '53 instead. Does anyone know the color of Vince's '53? Is it White Blonde? Also, does anyone know what year Fender started using Olympic White either as a standard or custom color?

..and he was playing a vintage Fender for a change!

Check out his CD called "Play" (almost all instrumental guitar) and you'll hear how he can rip it up with the best of 'em!

I have been the studio scene in Nashville since 1980. I am going there tomorrow for a few days for more volunteer work. Even if the flood is not in the news anymore there is still lots of work to be done. If you want a good feel for the damage check out Lorrie Morgans channel on YouTube

There'll probably be vids from the show on YouTube soon
if not already?
